Every man and woman is a Mission; that is the reason for our life on this earth. To be attracted and to be sent are two movements that our hearts, feel as interior forces of love; they hold out promise for our future and they give direction to our lives.  The fact that we are not in this world by our own choice makes us sense that there is an initiative that precedes us and makes us exist. Each one of us is called to reflect on this fact: “I am a Mission on this Earth; that is the reason why I am here in this world.”   Pope Francis

A compilation of stories of Missionaries in different parts of the world is provided to you to help in your wisdom and understanding.   As our collection of stories grow, it is our hope to provide to you electronically what the Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen initiated with his publication called MISSION.  In his words, MISSION’s purpose was to “’comfort the afflicted and to afflict the comfortable’:  to comfort the afflicted by bringing the impoverished of body and soul, bread and the Eucharist; to afflict the comfortable by reminding them that they need the poor more than the poor need them.”

Our hope is an increased understanding between those who hear the Good News of Jesus, perhaps for the first time – and those who support the work and witness of the Missionaries who proclaim the reason for our hope, Jesus Christ.

On the side menu and below, you will see different Mission areas throughout the world. Please click through to Africa, the Americas, Asia, India, the Philippines or one of the other Mission areas to read stories about Missionaries, their ministries, their hopes, their struggles and how you can help them in their baptismal calling to be disciples of God.
